Keep Azure organized and under control with governance.
Azure governance is the set of rules, structure and permissions that keep a cloud environment tidy, secure and affordable as it grows. We build the foundation and maintain it.

What Azure Governance covers
What is Azure Governance?
Governance is how a business keeps control of its cloud. In Azure it means deciding how resources are organized, who can create or change them, which settings are required or forbidden, and how everything is labelled and tracked.
Without it, cloud environments drift. People create resources in the wrong places, permissions pile up, costs creep and security settings vary from one server to the next.
With it, you have a structure that makes each new workload start secure and consistent, and makes audits and cost reviews straightforward.
Azure organizes resources in a hierarchy. Management groups contain subscriptions, subscriptions contain resource groups, and resource groups contain resources such as VMs and storage. Policies and permissions applied at a higher level flow down to everything beneath.
A landing zone is a pre-built environment that applies these ideas: network, identity, policies, logging and security set up before the first workload arrives. Microsoft publishes reference designs, and we adapt them to the size of your business.
What Azure Governance can do.
Azure Policy
Rules that audit, deny or automatically fix resources that break your standards, such as allowed regions or required encryption.
Role based access control
Give people the minimum role they need at the right scope, instead of broad administrator rights.
Management groups and subscriptions
Structure your environment by environment, department or client with inherited rules.
Tagging standards
Label resources with owner, cost centre and environment for reporting and accountability.
Resource locks
Prevent accidental deletion or change of critical resources.
Privileged Identity Management
Time limited, approved administrator access, available with higher Entra ID licences.
Activity logs and diagnostics
Record who changed what and when for investigation and audit.
Azure Advisor
Recommendations for cost, security, reliability and performance.
How Azure Governance works.
Design
Decide the structure, naming, regions, roles and standards.
Build
Create management groups, subscriptions, policies and roles as code.
Enforce
Apply policies and monitor compliance across all resources.
Review
Check drift, access and cost regularly and adjust.
What happens behind the scenes.
Policies are definitions that evaluate resources at creation and during their lifetime. A policy can audit and report, deny the action, modify the resource, or deploy something extra such as a diagnostic setting. Groups of policies called initiatives cover a standard, such as the Microsoft cloud security benchmark.
Role assignments connect people or groups to roles at a scope. Best practice is to assign roles to groups, apply the least privilege that works, and use time limited elevation for administrators. Infrastructure as code tools can deploy the structure repeatably.
How it benefits your business.
Governance reduces risk and cost together. Rules prevent insecure or non compliant deployments from the start, and tags and structure show where the money goes, so surprises are rarer.
It also removes dependence on individuals. A documented, enforced structure keeps working when the person who built the environment leaves, and new staff can be productive faster.
For insurers, clients and auditors, governance is evidence of control. It shows that cloud resources are managed deliberately, not accumulated by accident.
The benefits at a glance.
Secure by default
Policies block risky configurations.
Clear ownership and cost tracking
Tags and structure.
Least privilege access
Roles scoped to what people need.
Consistency at scale
Same standards everywhere.
Audit ready
Logs and compliance results.
Faster, safer growth
New workloads start from a good base.
Pricing: Azure Policy, role based access control and management groups carry no charge. Costs come from the resources they govern and any monitoring you add. Azure prices and features change, so we confirm current pricing and design to a budget before you commit.
What this looks like day to day.
A growing company has Azure resources created by three different people with different settings. Infinity introduces a landing zone with management groups, a small set of policies requiring encryption and Canadian regions, role assignments through groups and mandatory tags. New deployments follow the pattern, and the monthly cost report finally matches the departments.
This is an illustrative example of how the service is used, not a description of a specific client.
Mistakes we see, and how we avoid them.
Everyone is an owner
Broad rights let one mistake or one stolen account affect everything.
Policies without a plan
Strict deny rules applied late break existing systems. Audit first, then enforce.
No tagging discipline
Without tags, costs cannot be attributed. Make tags a requirement.
One subscription for everything
Mixing production and test makes access, cost and risk hard to manage.

Learn moreIs governance only for large companies?
No. A light structure from the start is easier than fixing a mess later. We size it to your business.
Does Azure Policy cost anything?
No. The service has no charge. You pay for the resources it governs.
What is a landing zone?
A prepared Azure environment with network, identity, policies and security settings in place before you deploy workloads.
Will policies break our existing systems?
Not if introduced carefully. We start in audit mode, review findings and then enforce.
Who should have administrator access?
As few people as possible, with elevated rights only when needed. We design and document the model.
