Connect your offices to Azure securely.
Azure networking connects your cloud workloads to your offices, remote staff and the internet, with the right security in between. We design and manage the whole path.

What Azure Networking covers
What is Azure Networking?
Azure networking is the set of services that connect your Azure resources to each other, to your offices and to the internet. At its core is the Azure Virtual Network, a private network in the cloud with its own address ranges, subnets and security rules.
It is the foundation of any Azure deployment. Servers placed in a well designed network are reachable only by who should reach them. A badly designed one exposes services to the internet or makes it impossible for systems to talk to each other.
For businesses with offices, networking is also how Azure becomes an extension of your existing network. Staff in the office reach cloud servers as if they were next door, and cloud servers reach office systems when needed.
Common patterns include a hub and spoke design, where a central hub network holds shared services such as firewalls and VPN gateways, and separate spoke networks hold different workloads. It scales cleanly and keeps security controls in one place.
Name resolution, routing and security are all part of the design. DNS needs to resolve names across the cloud and the office. Route tables decide where traffic flows. Network security groups and firewalls decide what is allowed.
What Azure Networking can do.
Virtual networks and subnets
Private address spaces to separate servers, desktops and services.
Site-to-site VPN
Encrypted tunnels between your office firewall and Azure over the internet.
Point-to-site VPN
Remote users connect to Azure networks securely from laptops.
ExpressRoute
A private, dedicated connection from your office or carrier to Azure for predictable performance.
Network security groups
Rules that allow or deny traffic to subnets and machines.
Azure Firewall
A managed, central firewall with filtering, threat intelligence and logging.
Private endpoints
Reach Azure services such as storage and SQL over a private address, not the public internet.
Azure Bastion
Secure browser based access to VMs without public RDP or SSH.
How Azure Networking works.
Design
Plan address ranges, subnets, connectivity and security zones.
Connect
Set up VPN or ExpressRoute and test routing and DNS.
Secure
Apply security groups, firewall rules and private endpoints.
Monitor
Watch traffic, health and logs, and adjust as workloads grow.
What happens behind the scenes.
Traffic from your office travels through your firewall into an encrypted VPN tunnel and arrives at a VPN gateway in the Azure virtual network. Route tables direct it to the right subnet, where security groups decide whether it is allowed to reach each server.
Traffic leaving Azure to the internet can be forced through Azure Firewall or a network virtual appliance, so it is inspected and logged. Private endpoints bring platform services into the virtual network, so they do not need to be exposed publicly.
How it benefits your business.
Good Azure networking protects the business. It keeps servers off the public internet, separates systems that should not communicate and gives you logs when something happens. That reduces the chance and impact of an attack.
It also determines performance and experience. A clean, direct connection with the right size and placement gives users fast access to cloud systems. A poor design causes slow applications and complaints.
Finally, it enables the hybrid model. Many businesses will keep some systems on site for years, and the network is what lets both worlds work as one.
The benefits at a glance.
Secure by design
Servers are reachable only as intended.
Offices connected to Azure
Staff reach cloud systems as if local.
Predictable performance
Right sized links and placement.
Central control
Firewall, routing and logging in one place.
Private access to services
Keep storage and databases off the public internet.
Ready for growth
Add sites and workloads without redesign.
Pricing: Virtual networks are free. Gateways, firewalls, private links and data transfer are billed by size and usage, so design affects cost. Azure prices and features change, so we confirm current pricing and design to a budget before you commit.
What this looks like day to day.
A company with three offices connects each office firewall to an Azure hub network with site-to-site VPNs. File servers and applications run in Azure, all traffic passes through a central firewall, and remote staff use a point-to-site VPN. Adding a fourth office takes an afternoon.
This is an illustrative example of how the service is used, not a description of a specific client.
Mistakes we see, and how we avoid them.
Overlapping address ranges
Office and Azure networks with the same ranges cannot be connected. Plan addressing early.
Flat, open networks
Everything in one subnet with broad rules makes an attack easy to spread.
Ignoring DNS
Names that do not resolve across sites cause confusing failures.
Underestimating cost
Gateways, firewalls and data transfer add up. Design with the bill in mind.

Learn moreDo we need ExpressRoute?
Most small and mid sized businesses are well served by VPN. ExpressRoute suits large data transfers or strict performance needs. We recommend what fits.
Can Azure connect to our existing firewall?
Usually yes. Most business firewalls support IPsec VPN to Azure. We check your model.
How do remote staff reach Azure systems?
Through a point-to-site VPN, Azure Virtual Desktop or modern zero trust access, depending on the workload.
Is it safe to put servers in Azure?
Yes, with the right network design. We keep servers private and control how they are reached.
Will networking add a lot to the Azure bill?
It adds some cost, mainly for gateways, firewalls and data transfer. We design to a budget and review regularly.
